ECHO
My work captures the moments between the ephemeral moments caught by my camera and the tangible objects that echo my journey. Each diptych joins a photograph with a collage piece, revealing the direct connection between how I see the world and the objects I create from my lived experiences.
I move between the immediate act of photography and the deliberate process of freezing moments, capturing the present forever. The images I capture reflect how I experience the world, serving as a foundation for deeper exploration. I repurpose vintage and forgotten items, transforming them to explore materiality, texture, color, patterns, and geometry. The juxtaposition of photography and collage in my diptychs invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the world around them.
My collages, using either photographic materials or digital media collage, extend my ongoing inquiry: What is a photograph? Is it the idea the photographer envisions? The moment the camera clicks? The light changing the exposure onto film or a sensor? The image that appears on a screen or the paper it’s printed on? Or is it simply a memory you can hold?
Each piece examines the interplay between past and present, emphasizing the beauty of recycled and reused materials. My work evokes a sense of nostalgia and contemplation, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the overlooked and left behind. The textures and patterns in my art explore the dialogue between the fleeting and the timeless, creating a bridge between transient moments and enduring memories.
